Issues relating to the sustainable development have become popular recently and are not just an empty slogan, but became common and recognized as a constant business approach. Today’s technological progress opens new perspectives to the world. However, it also imposes a number of risks, the most important of which is the waste management. Tons of end-of-life electronic devices, such as household appliances or cars are daily removed to the landfill, imposing a danger for soil, water and air pollution. Undoubtedly, every year a strong need for environmental protection continues to increase. Recovery and recycling of various waste is one of the best solutions to manage large amounts of garbage. Waste management industry should provide the best ways to recover and recycle waste, as much as possible, and when it brings obvious benefits for the environment.
The project described above is a true example of how modern and innovative solutions may be used, in order to maintain the stable development of the company, but also to introduce environmentally-friendly measures. Thanks to the implementation of this project, Wtor-Steel will have a chance to become a pioneer in the metal recovery sector. Know-how and technological support of the Norwegian partner bring invaluable mutual benefits. This will not only strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries – Poland and Norway, but also contribute to reducing disparities in the technological progress in Eastern Europe’s recycling industry, which is still low in comparison with western countries. The partnership is a great opportunity for the project partner to learn about the factors that determine the development of recycling industry in this part of Europe, as well as tailor the offer to your needs.
With this project – Wtor-Steel will increase its competitiveness due to improved purity and quality of the product, as a result of better sorting precision, higher efficiency and productivity and lower operating costs of the new sorting line. Implementation of new technologies is a key factor for company’s further development. We should emphasize a great environmental impact (internal and external) of the project. Recovery and recycling of metals leads to the reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of the energy needed to produce metals (as compared to the production of ore), protection of natural resources, as well as reduction of waste disposal.
In conclusion, the implementation of improved waste management technologies is an unconditional and necessary aspect of economic development. External financial support for private companies that operate in this sector is justified not only from their perspective, but also for the sustainable development of national economy as a whole.
